Deacon wanted me to sing and read to him tonight but I have a 10 page paper due so Nathan had to do it. Deacon was pretty bummed about it so I heard Nathan explaining it to him in his room, "Deacon, mommy is studying hard so she can be even smarter. She is going to college so she needs to study." Well, Deacon seemed to get really really sad about this so Nathan asked him what was wrong and his little lip was quivering as he said, "I don't want mommy to go away to college, I want her to stay here with us." So then Nathan had to console him that I do my homework on the internet and that I wasn't actually going away Ü.
Okay, I hesitate to write this next part, but Nathan says I have to. If you read this and you go to my church, don't tell anyone, okay Ü? Ummmm, we were at church on Sunday and there was a baby two rows in front of us with, how do you say....a face only a mother could love? "Breathtaking" if you ever watched Seinfeld. Anyway, Deacon kept looking at the baby quizzically and then turns to Nate and says in that blunt-little-kid-way, "Dad, that is the worst baby ever." Nathan's eyes got super big but held it together pretty well. He took it as a teaching opportunity to tell Deacon that everyone looks different and Heavenly Father made us all special. And that we don't call someone the worst because that could make them feel bad. But man, that baby sure was breathtaking....

JUNE
Deacon LOVES to fill up ANY container he can find with water and put it in the freezer and turn it to ice (then kick it around outside until it breaks or melts). Anyway, one day he tells me he has this great idea to stick his tongue on a big pot of ice. I looked directly at him and told him not to do it because his tongue would get stuck and it would hurt and probably bleed.
Fast forward 2 minutes later.......

Some lessons we have to learn for ourselves!
Deacon LOVES swimming lessons......except for the whole 'lesson' part.
Mostly he loves to splash around with his friend Aiden.

Okay, this story is too cute. Nathan asked Deacon if he wanted to play catch in the living room (with this huge plastic Easter egg thing that we have). So they started and after 5 seconds Deacon says, "Wait, I need some water ready." So he goes and grabs two small water bottles and places them on the ground behind him. And after each throw back to Nathan, he turns around and wipes his brow and takes a swig. Then turns back around to catch the next throw.
I found this on the counter this afternoon....
I always say if you have a left and a right, you have a pair! He can never find a pair of shoes...it's always one of each. This is how he has been going to preschool the last few days. Eventually we should clean his room....
Wearing Nathan's glasses. Probably not long before he needs his own!
In case you didn't know, Deacon is an inventor. All on his own he came up with this idea: get a wash rag wet a place it over the basket. Then, the food inside will stay cool:
I let him address Boston and Brooks' birthday gifts. Notice his name on there twice? :)
