August Pictures

Deacon loves for me to vacuum, but his room is always messy. I told him if he cleaned it and "picked everything off the floor" I would vacuum it. Well, he did. He put it all on his train table. He even put the oscillating fan on the bed---all by himself. Did I mention he loves for me to vacuum?

He told me he made 'number four'.
First day of Preschool! He really is a happy boy. I just have to remind him to show it or else he always looks like this:
Nathan's sisters (Callie and Carrie) lovingly and jokingly call him "Leonard" after their grandpa Leonard Hunt (Richard's dad). I never met him but apparently he was a little stern and Deacon looks like him when he scowls and acts grumpy.

Now his face matches his feelings that day. He was happy for his first day of preschool.

Here's one time when I didn't have to remind him to smile. He was overjoyed at his spiderman mouthwash that I bought him (you're supposed to rinse with it BEFORE you brush and it sticks to plaque so you know where to concentrate your brushing---we're trying to teach Deacon to brush his own teeth now). Anyway, when he saw that it had Spiderman on it, he ran to the freezer to get his Spiderman icepack. Then ran to his bedroom to get his Spiderman socks. He laid them all out on the bathroom counter and was so proud that they matched.

Deacon took the cover off his pillow (below) and was surprised by what he saw. He said, "Mom, Look! The boy scout thing is on my pillow!" {Fleur de lis}

So he likes to climb on the entertainment center and jump off and pretend he's flying when he wears his Superman PJ's. For some reason, he does this funny thing where he pushes a 'button' on his belt (see picture above). He always does this and makes a sound effect with his mouth right before he jumps.

He earns pennies for going #1 and #2 in the toilet, then saves up those pennies to trade for various toys I buy at the dollar store. I keep my change in this changer and he likes to push the button to make the pennies come out himself. He also likes to wear it....even though it pulls his pants down.

I didn't realize how long his hair was getting until this picture below!

Reading Shrek on the toilet. Anyone wanna do a book swap with us? Ü

He insists this is called "The Batman Tower"

A few days before our Washington trip I hauled some suitcases in my room to pack. I didn't touch this one for two days:
And when I finally opened it to pack, it looked like this:
Over the last 2 days he had been adding things to it. Things he wanted to be sure we took to Washington. Things he doesn't even use here on a regular basis (ie the birthday hat, the rollerblades, and old newspaper ads that have toys he likes).

Deodorant

Nathan was getting ready for work yesterday morning (at about 5am) and was asking me where his deodorant was. I mumbled something about it probably being under the piles of clothes on his dresser or having been knocked into one of his open drawers or something. I also said there was plenty more in the coupon room and he could just grab a new one.

That was the last I thought about it, until last night.

I was laying in bed with Deacon, getting ready to sing, and he kept smiling and pointing to his armpit. So I looked at it and didn't see anything so I asked him, "What?" And he said, "I put deodorant on." And I said, "Where did you get deodorant?" And he said, "From daddy's dresser." Then Nathan comes blazing in from the other room (I didn't know he heard us) and was pretending to be upset, but mostly bewildered. He told me he had to use MY deodorant this morning. So then he asked Deacon where the deodorant was now and Deacon said, "In my backpack." Nathan took it back, but only after I promised one of my trial size deodorants to Deacon.

Little back story: Deacon's keeps all of his favorite worldly possessions in his backpack. He broke the zipper on his last backpack because he would stuff it sooooo full. We got him a different backpack with a drawstring on it. Every time he finds something new that he likes, he puts it in his backpack. Yet he doesn't really ever take things out and play with them. He just insists on taking his backpack everywhere we go.

So fast forward to today. Deacon is sorting through everything in his back pack and all of the sudden he pulls out Nathan's wedding ring (!!!) and says, "Here. Give this to dad." (And I'm thinking, I already did---7.5 years ago.)

July Pics

Tying up his 'bad guy'

I always get the cutest clothes for Adelaide from Carla and Monica, well today Carla gave me some PJs that wouldn't quite fit Addy yet. Deacon found them and would NOT take them off. He insisted they were his. Never-mind that it is 100 degrees at nighttime and they both sleep in a diaper.

I thought the ballet shoes were a nice touch.

Cleaning the wheels on his bike....just like his daddy used to do with his motorcycle.
Cleaning the bathtub

Whenever I tell him to smile he squints his eyes shut and says 'cheese'. So then I always say, "Smile with your eyes OPEN." Then I get these shots (above and below):

He earned a Toy Story flashlight for going number 2 IN THE TOILET (that's the imperative part).
He picked me a flower above.

I sooooo love the little people that he draws!!!
Hiking with dad above. Making 'mud pies' with cousins below.

More playing in the dirt with Treyton at the family reunion camp out. Deacon loves all of Treyton's cool toys.

He refers to that thing in his hand as "My Firetruck Purse." As in, "Mom, I can't find my firetruck purse." Makes his dad grimace Ü

In the carwash after the ward 4th of July breakfast.

He loves the cartoon "Rescue Heroes". They feature a fire fighter on there.

Outfit courtesy of the .99 cent store. Hat courtesy of Dollar Tree. The hat lasted one afternoon. Deacon kept throwing it and it broke.
