Halloween

"Don't take my picture, dad."

With his second(?) cousin. Actually it's the child of Nate's second cousin....so I don't know what that makes him.

Dressing Himself and Peekabo

In October, Deacon started dressing himself.
Pretty good job!

Wheeeeeeeere's Deacon?
Peek-A-Boo!!
Jumping up to scare Addy (in the swing)

I pulled out a box of all his old clothes when I was looking for his lobster costume. He took the opportunity try them on!
Those PJs don't fit like they used to!

I'm Not Harry Potter, I'm Deacon

For some reason our Internet connection makes it extremely difficult to upload video. It took 16 minutes to upload this short clip, and that was after the fourth try. The 3 times before that it just logged me out!

This one was pretty cute though. We made pipe cleaner glasses for Deacon and he mentioned that they were "like daddy's glasses". I said yeah and then in a British accent I said he was Harry Potter. He got this really serious look on his face and said, "No, I'm Deacon."

Reading to Addy

I had Addy propped on a pillow on my bed while I was cleaning my room. Deacon said, "I read Addy book." He went and got a book, laid down beside her, and started showing her!

Randoms

Out of nowhere he told me, "I put sock on door." I'm like, okay, whatever. Then about 20 minutes later I find this:

He always spills his milk and it gets him sticky and drives him crazy. Today he went to the guest bathroom and removed the hand towel, then he placed it under his bowl exactly as you see it here:

His new thing is to lay down on the floor (in our bedroom, in the living room, wherever) and then ask me to put his blanket on him "soft side down." He will lay completely still---which is so unusual---for about 10 minutes and just rest.

The day of Addy's blessing:

Bucket Boy and Swing Son

Deacon had been outside helping Nate work on my car so I brought them both some water. I saw Deacon sitting in this bucket of water completely nekkid. I told Nate that that was a good idea to keep him cool. Nathan looked at me and said I thought you did it. So we went to investigate and it was not a bucket of water, but a bucket of bleach and water that his sister was soaking her makeup case in.....

So it gave me the idea to do the rubbermaid swimming pool in the post below.

Deac loves his swing and is always saying, "Mom, push my 'wing."
He likes to bring random things with him into the swing. Like a Capri Sun straw.....

.....or vacuum attachments and some long cord-thing (below).

The Pet Store

I was getting Deacon dressed one morning and told him he would be going to the pet store. About an hour later he said, "Time a go to Pep Boys now?" I guess he's so used to going there with Nate that pet sounds like pep. Aunt Callie is the one who took him (and took some pics for me). She bought him a goldfish and it lasted about 24 hours, but not because of anything he did.

Afterwards she bought him a slurpee. He enjoyed his....and then some of hers too!

Eh? What's Up Doc?

Deacon loves carrots. We will be going out to feed the horses and he will eat the carrots (unpeeled or cut) before we get there. Or, if I am trying to peel them over the trashcan, he thinks it's funny to stick is head almost in the trash to catch the shavings in his mouth. He laughs and says, "That's funny."
