Deodorant

Nathan was getting ready for work yesterday morning (at about 5am) and was asking me where his deodorant was. I mumbled something about it probably being under the piles of clothes on his dresser or having been knocked into one of his open drawers or something. I also said there was plenty more in the coupon room and he could just grab a new one.

That was the last I thought about it, until last night.

I was laying in bed with Deacon, getting ready to sing, and he kept smiling and pointing to his armpit. So I looked at it and didn't see anything so I asked him, "What?" And he said, "I put deodorant on." And I said, "Where did you get deodorant?" And he said, "From daddy's dresser." Then Nathan comes blazing in from the other room (I didn't know he heard us) and was pretending to be upset, but mostly bewildered. He told me he had to use MY deodorant this morning. So then he asked Deacon where the deodorant was now and Deacon said, "In my backpack." Nathan took it back, but only after I promised one of my trial size deodorants to Deacon.

Little back story: Deacon's keeps all of his favorite worldly possessions in his backpack. He broke the zipper on his last backpack because he would stuff it sooooo full. We got him a different backpack with a drawstring on it. Every time he finds something new that he likes, he puts it in his backpack. Yet he doesn't really ever take things out and play with them. He just insists on taking his backpack everywhere we go.

So fast forward to today. Deacon is sorting through everything in his back pack and all of the sudden he pulls out Nathan's wedding ring (!!!) and says, "Here. Give this to dad." (And I'm thinking, I already did---7.5 years ago.)
